January brings a new year filled with new resolutions.  Topping the charts for many is getting healthy, detoxing is a great way to begin.  The word detox conjures up mixed emotions for many I’m sure, some good some not so good.  Detoxing doesn’t have to be bad or hard, in fact it can be easy with foods that you may currently have in your kitchen!  Just to name a few….

 

Apples – An apple a day really does keep the doctor away!  Simply by eating an apple you are ridding your body of metals and food additives.  Keep the skin on for the biggest advantage.

Avocados –  currently very trendy, especially in the form of guacamole and on a chip! However, in it’s raw form it is one of the healthiest fruits you could eat! It contains glutathione that detoxes synthetic chemicals and unwanted toxins from your body.  Your liver loves avocados!

Kale – dubbed the “superfood” and for good reason, kale is a comprehensive support for your digestive system.  Cook it in soup, eat it raw in salads, put it in a juicer, blend it in a smoothie, just get it into your diet any way you can.  Your body thanks you.

Flaxseeds – These tiny gems pack a wallop! In addition to supporting weight loss and flushing out intestinal tract they are mood boosting!  Be sure and crush to receive the best advantage.

These are my favorites but there are many more foods that could contribute to the success of your new year’s resolution.  Be creative, be consistent and you’ll be successful.  Happy 2018!

 

Apple Smoothie


1 medium apple

5 large strawberries

½ banana

2 handfuls of ice

1 cup coconut water

Mix all in a blender and enjoy!
